Small & Large Business of the Year

The Business of the Year Awards are for a business that has made a positive impact on the community at large with their commitment and involvement.

  • Nominee must be an active business.
  • Nominee must be a Wylie Area Chamber of Commerce member in good standing.
  • Nominee must have been in business for at least 12 months.
  • Nominee must be an independently owned business.
  • Nominee must demonstrate civic involvement.
  • Nominee must exemplify professionalism and commitment to Wylie and its economy.
  • Nominees for the Large Business Award qualifies if they have 26 or more employees.
  • Nominees for the Small Business Award qualifies if they have 25 employees or less.

Nomination Process

  • Membership is polled for nominees through the Chamber weekly email.
  • Nominations will be accepted in writing on the Chamber created forms in person or via email from Wylie Area Chamber of Commerce members in good standing (current on membership dues).
  • Chamber Staff recommendations are taken into account for the process.
  • Less than serious nominations are removed, and the rest are pared down to the final 3 by the Awards Committee which consists of Chairman of the Board, Chair Elect, Ambassador Chair and Chamber CEO, (as a non-voting party).
  • Three nominations are promoted to the membership for final voting.
  • Votes are tabulated and the Chamber Board of Directors confirms the winner.
  • Important Note: There may not be an eligible nominee each year.
  • Presentation of the Awards will be at the December Gala.

Citizen of the Year

The Citizen of the Year Award is for an individual who lives or works in Wylie and has committed their time and efforts to benefit the community as a whole within the last year. This is an award from the work and efforts of a contributor that has made Wylie what it is today over a period of time.

  • Nominee must demonstrate exceptional civic involvement.
  • Nominee must exemplify commitment to the Wylie community through participation, motivation, and mentoring above and beyond.
  • Nominations will be accepted in writing on the Chamber created forms, in person or via email, from Wylie Area Chamber of Commerce members in good standing (current on membership dues).

Nomination Process

  • Wylie Area Chamber of Commerce members are polled for nominees through the Chamber weekly email.
  • Chamber Staff recommendations taken into account for the process.
  • Nominations are reviewed and less than serious nominees are removed by the awards committee which consists of Chairman of the Board, Chair Elect, Ambassador Chair and Chamber CEO (as a non-voting party).
  • Nominations are provided to the Chamber Board of Directors to select the winner.
  • Important Note: There may not be an eligible nominee each year.
  • Presentation of Award at the December Gala.
